I had the opportunity to visit the Voice of America museum near Cincinnati last spring at their retired Bethany Station. One of the exhibits that stuck in my mind afterwards was of radios from around the world, usually designed to only tune in the local regime’s broadcasts, but had been modded — sometimes at risk of death — to tune into VoA. Oppressed peoples around the world have risked their lives to hear unfiltered news from VoA — and this week we just shut it down. ☹️
