@neverflw Yes! 🤓

16 1/2 years on the birdsite... today it's over. I had held on to the account the past several months thinking that maybe it could become a worthwhile place to return to, but I've lost that hope. I won't be on X.

My painful experience is that "better" rarely matters. I had a Magnavox Odyssey when everybody else had Atari, a Sega Master System when my friends had Nintendo, a Genesis when the more popular system was the SNES, an Atari Lynx when Game Boys were hot... I could keep going. The most popular is often the simpler, more approachable platform that the people you know also have. businessinsider.com/instagram-

@mattdsteele super cool. Knew about Spot but not about the APIs that were available. Wonder if something similar could be done with APRS — but you'd need reliable digipeater coverage over ride area. Good luck preparing for the Long Voyage!

A local brewer here in Lincoln, NE called Code, that has always used a lot of Morse code in its decorating, seems to have started to lean into this further with radio-related beer names. It’s had me thinking about other possible names… “Ragchew IPA” for a session beer, “QRT Imperial Stout” implying that you’re about to go dark, “Dummy Load” for a non-alcoholic beer, “Solar Cycle” for a California common…

Maybe Twitter did it earlier, but it seems that you can no longer view anything without logging in. The institution I work for, when we started using social media, felt okay posting to Facebook and Twitter partly because you weren't required to have an account to see what we posted there. Now that Twitter seems to have put all content behind the gates, I'm curious what we will do.

I so want to delete my personal twitter account, but I don't want to lose my ability to see what's there if needed.

It was a fun morning out with local radio club supporting the mountain bike race for the Cornhusker State Games.

I don’t like these MLS vs ___________ games. If MLS wins, the other team is in preseason — of course MLS should have won. If MLS loses, the other team is much better, of course MLS lost. Last years against LigaMX All Stars was the best iteration of this they’ve had.

I really enjoyed the first couple episodes of on AppleTV+ and decided to blast through the first book from 2011, which I hadn’t even heard of. It was a fantastic story, but I’m not sure what light it has shed on the TV series. I assume the book and show are headed to the same destination, but they are certainly taking some different paths to get there.

@tsherrygeo Yep. The Whole XYL, YL, OM thing amongst others needs to go. I don’t expect that anybody that has used these for years and thinks nothing of them will drop them, but more and more of us can just refuse to adopt it going forward and hopefully phase them out over time.

@cpultz Bo Knows Hiccups

@mrwilson One could make the argument based on youth participation and national team performance that IF you need to qualify one, it should be the boys that get the tag.

@mrwilson Thank you. It seems that things like “lady huskers” are in the past, but then you see goofy things like this. Should be an easy fix if someone wanted to do it. The place I saw it this morning is the score embeds on the NSAA “Soccer Championships HQ” site: nsaahome.org/nsaa-soccer-champ

Not sure if this is a MaxPreps thing or an NSAA thing, but this is pretty ridiculous in 2023. If you’re going to call it girls soccer, then call it boys soccer.

@cpultz This is awesome. I love it. I'm a big user of terms like "please", "just", "simply". I also frequently add exclamation marks. I would have a lot of self-censoring to do if I were writing for them.

I wish U.S. sports would be more selective about when our Anthem is performed. The only option we have is to go beyond that by adding on extra songs (America the Beautiful, God Bless America, Lift Every Voice...) It's particularly awkward with soccer when a large number of our players are not U.S. citizens, so they just stand there waiting for the match to start. Let's save the anthem for Memorial Day, Flag Day, Fourth of July, etc.

@mrwilson thankfully morse (CW) isn’t part of the licensing anymore or I’m not sure I would have gotten into it, but that’s definitely something I would like to learn.

Was adjusting the rabbit ears your favorite part of watching TV? May be for you! 😂

@cpultz well then it is compressed as though it passed through a black hole. When moving from one end of the floor to the other, everything just becomes a piece of impressionist art.

@cpultz not being 4K is one thing but this looks like garbage. There is no reason for it. Apples new MLS coverage is 1080 and looks amazing.

Signs of Spring: Bike Rides, Baseball and Storm Spotter Training or know-your-cloud-anatomy. Hoping for a quiet season on the plains.

Been taking off for as long as I remember, but many have been a bust between skimpy day-one schedules and early-spring weather postponing many of them. Today looks glorious with a full schedule and good weather. 3 hours until there is meat on the grill and multiple games on the TV. Play Ball! ⚾️

@megahertz Hold on. Let me swing my antenna around to your direction and increase my power. Can you say that again? 😁

@cpultz maybe the new steelhouse in Omaha will bring some of those back into the area
