My daughter had fall break today so we took the opportunity to go on a photo hike at a nearby camp. It seems like fall has taken forever to arrive.

Been doing the Sunday night ARES net for over a year now… here we go again…

@cpultz me too!!

Drove out of town to catch the last night and got there just in time. It faded pretty quickly after this.

@nirak i’d have to take peanut butter for sure! Some love chocolate — I’m in for PB 😋

@cpultz I was trying to remember last night. Was there a time, during the couple postseason runs the Royals had a few years ago (probably longer ago than I realize) that there were concurrent home royals and chiefs games? I seem to remember a helicopter shot showing that — but perhaps arrowhead's lights were just on.

@Strandjunker Neither side wants geography to decide. Show me someone who wants local control and I'll show you someone who doesn't have total control. Next it will be the left fighting to retain local control while the right works to prevent women and doctors from making their own decisions nationwide — and if that happens, geography, once again, will not be an issue. ☹️

I don't know what the point of Google Maps' automated moderation is. We have people updating properties with information that doesn't require Gemini-level intelligence to say, "That seems bogus.”

Seems like Big Ten could at least update their logo to reflect reality

My daughter is a living-breathing denial-of-service attack. She talks so much I can’t even have thoughts of my own. My brain just shuts down under the onslaught of words. 😀

@alper Cool. Just curious about general impressions — things that specs don't tell you… build quality, how does it feel, how does it sound…

@rustywx Thanks. I hope that will hold. It will give everyone a reason to go home 😄

@rustywx East graduation on Saturday and hoping/planning for an outdoor party... how's that looking to you right now? Forecasts that I've seen seem to indicate overcast and a little chilly, but mostly dry. Thanks!

@cpultz Funny to read people here on-upping each other on how bad road construction is in their own country: reddit.com/r/interestingasfuck

Risking a muscle strain from rolling my eyes every time someone mentions that they "researched" something. It's clear from what they have recently discovered that they didn't even get past the result screen of their Bing search — there's no way this person went with anything but the default browser on their Walmart $349 17" laptop.

Glad that a game vs Messi’s Miami team brought such a large crowd last night — likely with a whole lot who have never been to a KC game before, but sure wish we could have gotten the win. The boys played well but had multiple opportunities that they didnt take advantage of and made defensive mistakes that players like Messi and Luis Suarez are going to eat up (and did). No matter the result, having 5 goals and a winner (SKC 2 - 3 MIA), was better for a crowd like this than a low scoring draw.

@Kb9vbr Maybe for Q&A? Any fun ideas/projects for one who has collected a few 17' whips? Some sort of multi-band setup? K4OGO did an interesting video this week on co-phasing. Anything else? Thanks!

Last night’s result was spoiled by a bad call in the 90’+4’ but I still keep thinking “those new lights are pretty neat”

Sad way to start morning when your grinder is broke, so you put some pre-ground coffee in the V60 and pour a little water on it to bloom — which of course it does not. The lifeless coffee which outgassed lonnnnng ago just sat there like a cup of mud. Time to find a new grinder.

I guess I've missed out on "core memory" but I think about “core programming" a lot — things that, no matter what I learn about people and the world, I just can't shake from things I learned when I was young. There some good stuff in there like saying "Please" and "Thank You”, but there's a whole lot of embarrassing stuff in there too that I have to suppress and I've just given up on it ever going away.

Got comfortable handling the Sunday ARES net here in Lincoln, NE so took on the nearby Saunders county Wednesday one also… the repeater is right next to a camp near Ashland I’ve been connected to nearly all of my life and almost 1000ft above the surrounding area when you consider the hill it is on top of — I can hit it easily from nearly 30 miles away. It warms my heart in an odd way, having that weekly connection to the area.

I haven’t said it recently, but I love mastodon. I never see the word “sponsored”anywhere. It’s not full of click-bait. Just real people with ideas and observations. Thanks for being here!

@chrisfarnham Thanks! I hadn't seen that site before. What an awesome combination! :-)

I mentioned my dislike of Grammarly always putting commas all over the place. AP style does not use the oxford comma unless required for clarification. Someone asked if you could change that — I immediately felt dumb that I had never even checked. Problem solved!

Good morning from Lincoln 🥶
